Our Mission
is to strive to provide charitable, educational and community involved events & activities to the Dover and surrounding communities. Our park/playground area is a great place to just bring the kids to play and maybe visit with friends and family under the pavilion.
HISTORY
As the previous, historic Dover Grade School was given to the community from Mission Valley USD #330 in 2004 - it has remained a Community Center for locals to gather and enjoy community fellowship. Dover is located at the eastern edge of the Flint Hills on the Native Stone Scenic Byway - K4 Highway. The Community Center is the heart of our Dover Heritage Day, which takes place annually the 3rd Saturday in June to celebrate the heritage of our wonderful town of Dover. We maintain a History Room full of Dover's history. We would love to make a time for a small group to come visit and hear about our historic past. Just call or text the main number to get further information (785) 256-6700.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS & LOTS OF HISTORY
Enjoy taking a drive through the beautiful countryside using the Native Stone Scenic Byway as your guide. This byway travels through the Kansas Flint Hills and starts just northeast of Dover in Shawnee County on U.S. Hwy K-4 just off of the Interstate 70 and Auburn Road Exit. You can check out more about this beautiful byway at https://legendsofkansas.com/native-stone-scenic-byway-kansas/ You'll want to pay close attention to all the limestone. You'll see limestone fencing, limestone homes built in the 1800's, and take notice the beautiful old barns. You might even see a few barn quilts on those old barns. Check out this website for more information on the Flint Hills Quilt Trail https://www.nps.gov/tapr/kansas-flint-hills-quilt-trail.htm.
Echo Cliff Park is just a few short miles just around the corner southwest of Dover at 24479 Echo Cliff Road, Maple Hill, Kansas. A local, beautiful park & view of Mission Creek. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the peace and serenity. And, you'll see why it's called echo cliff for a reason.
Next door to the north of the Dover Community Center is the Old High School turned into the Junior High school until it's closing. This is now a private residence.
Also in Dover is the old mercantile and across the road north is the Old Sage Inn. It is now a personal residence, but it was a booming stagecoach stop. Because of Dover's location on the Southwest Trail, it was used as a connection from the Oregon Trail, that passed through Topeka, to the Santa Fe Trail in Council Grove, Kansas. Along Mission Creek, Dover was only one of two places where a wagon could ford the creek.
